The Speights London New Zealand Rugby Football Club is New Zealand's very own rugby club here in the heart of London. LNZRFC exists to provide visitors to London - mostly, but not exclusively, young New Zealanders - with the opportunity to play rugby, and to foster the friendships that rugby brings and become part of a proud history dating back to it's establishment in 1926. The club is run along strictly amateur lines by its members, volunteers and its players. We are not a “closed” Club and we currently number British, Australian and South African’s amongst the membership. Due to the nature of the clubs members whom are doing their "Big OE" we offer the flexibility that other clubs in London don’t with regard to players missing games to travel, support the All Blacks on their tours and work commitments. Our flexibility however doesn’t affect our ability to play competitive rugby in our respected competitions. It’s not just all about rugby at the club though! We are a very social club, we always enjoy a few beers (Speights of course) after the game, we have a friendly club atmosphere which is a great way to make new friends and we are they only rugby club in London who have Hangi’s! We can boast our Hangis and Socials are usually attended by well over around 500 people and lots of Speights is always consumed! We do travel as a club at the end of each season. We compete in 7’s competitions in Europe and represent New Zealand in the International Beach Rugby Champs which are held in Italy each year. Watch the video below. In 2008 we were the first team to ever play rugby in Passchendaele, Belgium as part of the 90th Commemorations. See website. This is pretty significant due to the commitment of NZ in World War 1 (We were part of a documentary film by Maori TV in NZ).
